If you’re extremely concerned you should have done some basic prepping already, read Don’t Panic either before reading the rest of this post, or immediately after.

Before heading off on the acquisition of varied and expensive items to support prepping, it’s important to understand that 1) you don’t have to acquire a huge array of expensive and complicated equipment, and 2) prepping can be, and needs to be, a sensible, measured approach taken over time. Prepping needs to be response to your needs, which rarely involves extreme measures such as positioning yourself for the total collapse of society.

 

Take Stock Of Your Current Position

If you are serious about being prepared for depleted grocery store shelves, an extended lack of electricity, or a week or two without municipal water, then I congratulate you. You have made a decision to position yourself in a far better position than most people, and such a decision deserves the best advice I can give for how to get started and follow a sustainable plan.
